Larisa Ortiz is a nationally recognized urban planner, consultant, speaker, instructor, & author in the field of commercial district revitalization. She is the Managing Director of Research & Analysis at Streetsense and leads their public nonprofit initiative. She is a Mayoral appointee to the New York City Planning Commission and has developed retail and implementation strategies for over two hundred districts worldwide. Most recently, she was tasked with developing a comprehensive commercial district assessment tool for the City of New York. She’s written two books including “Improving Tenant Mix: A Guide for Commercial District Practitioners” and has taught at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. A Watson Fellow and Fulbright Scholar, she has 20-plus years of experience analyzing and providing perspective on what business districts must do to adapt and thrive in the face of an evolving retail landscape.
